JULY 2010

A Message from Our President – Kelly Robertson

Hello ASWA members and friends –

Well we are off and running into our new year.  Our chapter has really grown since I first became a member.  I remember when we would have a meeting where only 5 of us were in attendance.  I am happy to say that we now have 27 members. With new members comes new blood, new excitement and new ideas.  This is a great thing for our chapter.  This year’s board has already been busy planning our upcoming year.  We have reviewed the chapter’s financial statements and will be purposing some changes.  We have found that we are currently losing money each month on our lunch meetings.  In order to keep our current lunch cost at $ 20.00 we felt that we would rather do a fund raiser than raise the cost of the lunch.  The current suggestion is to do a garage sale at Angie Ledbetter’s house in late August or early September.  So start saving your stuff now.  Remember “one person’s junk is another person’s treasure”.  We will also have a sign-in table where you can sign in and pay your lunch fee before you go into the meeting room.  This will assist Emily in collecting the money and knowing who the guests are that month.  I would also like to review a few of our lunch policies as a reminder -

  1. RSVP policy – if you RSVP for lunch and then have to cancel you must cancel before the count is given to the Drury Inn.  If you do not cancel before the count is given then you will be obligated to pay for your lunch. You will have until 3pm the Friday before our meeting to cancel if you need to.
  2. Although the meetings in August and December are not our regular CPE programs, we will still pay our $ 20.00 for lunch.
  3. Non- members will pay the non-member fee for attending lunches unless it is their first meeting, in which they are a guest and their lunch will be free.  AICPA members will pay the non-member price unless we are having a joint meeting.

I look forward to a fun and rewarding year and to working with a great Board.

Hope to see all of you at the July meeting.  Our speaker is Dave Miller from Mayer Hoffman McCann, and he is an excellent speaker.

Kelly

Hello ASWA members from your Vice-President.  I’ve been invited to send the message this month since our President, Sarah is already settling into her new home in WY.  Our President Elect, Kelly Robertson will assume Sarah’s duties soon.

The date of the June meeting has been changed to Tuesday the 29th and we will be installing our 2010-2011 officers.

The speaker will be Pamela Tharp, Certified Business Coach.  Pamela will be speaking to us on the topic of successful transitions throughout our career.

This promises to be a full and interesting meeting so be sure to get your RSVP to Sherra just as soon as possible.
